Testogenix vs Testogen and other look-alikes

What does the Testogenix box say it is for?
The front of the box carries three badges — increases libido
, increases endurance
, increases testosterone
— and the line food for sexual health for above 18 year of age
. These are the maker’s words on the box. We do not confirm them: no study of this capsule has been published, and Indian law does not allow supplements to be advertised as a remedy for sexual weakness.
What we can say is what the label states clearly: it is a food supplement for adult men, with five ingredients in specific amounts.
Testogenix capsule ingredients
Testogenix is one of the few products here with amounts on the label. All amounts are for the daily dose of 2 capsules.
- 370 mgL-Arginine
An amino acid found in protein foods such as nuts, dairy and pulses.
- 500 mgKapikachhu (velvet bean) extractMucuna pruriens
Seeds of a tropical bean used in Ayurveda; it naturally contains L-DOPA.
- 90 mgGinseng extract
Root extract; the label does not say which ginseng species.
- 10 mgBlack pepper extract (95%)Piper nigrum
Black pepper extract, standardised to 95% (most likely piperine).
- 40 mcgSelenium
A trace mineral; 40 mcg is below the usual adult upper limit.
Amounts as printed on the label, per 2 capsules.
500 mg of kapikachhu extract per day is a meaningful amount. Because kapikachhu contains L-DOPA — the same substance used in Parkinson’s medicines — the interactions below are important.
How to take Testogenix capsule
- Take 2 capsules together once a day after a meal.
- Swallow with water.
- Do not exceed 2 capsules a day.
- Not for anyone under 18 and not for women.
One box (2×10) lasts 10 days.
Testogenix capsule side effects and who should not take it
The label says: Not for minors and women.
Medicines that do not mix with this formula
- Nitrates for chest pain, sildenafil, tadalafil and other “PDE-5” tablets, or blood-pressure medicines. L-arginine can lower blood pressure; together with these medicines the drop can be sharp and dangerous. Do not combine without your doctor.
- Medicines for Parkinson’s disease, MAO inhibitors, antipsychotics. Kapikachhu (Mucuna pruriens) naturally contains L-DOPA. Do not take it with these medicines unless your doctor agrees.
- Blood thinners, blood-pressure or sugar medicines. Ginseng may interfere with blood clotting and blood sugar, and can cause sleeplessness. Ask your doctor first.
Who should not take it
- Anyone under 18 and women — this is printed on the pack.
- Men with heart disease, very high or very low blood pressure, or after a recent heart attack or stroke — only after a doctor’s advice.
- Anyone allergic to any listed ingredient.
When to see a doctor
Problems with erections can be an early sign of heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure. That is a reason for a check-up, not for waiting to see if a supplement changes anything. Chest pain, breathlessness or dizziness after taking any product — stop and get medical help (112).
What the research says about these ingredients
L-arginine is used by the body to make nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels. Small studies in men have been inconsistent, and the 370 mg here is far below the grams used in most trials.
Kapikachhu (Mucuna pruriens) has been studied in a few small trials, mostly from India, in men with fertility problems; the studies are small and not easy to compare.
Ginseng: the US National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health notes some research suggesting oral Asian ginseng may improve sexual function in men with erectile dysfunction, but it also lists possible side effects and drug interactions. The ginseng species in Testogenix is not stated.
No study of this combination has been published. Erection problems can be an early warning of heart disease or diabetes, so a doctor’s check-up is the sensible first step.
